Vehicle Condition Photo Checklist
Use this same checklist every time, in the same order, so photo sets are easy to compare side by side later. Take photos in good lighting, hold the camera steady and reasonably close for damage shots, and always include the day's date visible on a phone screen or dated placard in at least one overview photo of the session.

The odometer photo and the four full-profile exterior shots are the minimum that must exist for every single check-out and return, with no exceptions — these are the shots most often needed to resolve a mileage or damage dispute.

Store each session's photos in the vehicle's file, labeled clearly with the date and session type (acquisition, check-out, return). At every return, place the return photos next to the most recent check-out photos, angle by angle, before making any deposit determination.
